The Glimmerglass Opera Festival: Four New Productions! Revel in four new productions! With a record of achievement acclaimed by audiences and critics alike, the Glimmerglass Opera Festival presents outstanding American performers and accomplished international artists in the company’s 900-seat theater overlooking Otsego Lake. The performances on stage put you in touch with a remarkable range of emotions, while the opera house itself -- with unique, retractable side walls -- puts you in touch with the pastoral landscape during balmy summer evening intermissions. The Sunday Times of London called this “the most magical of settings” as passionate opera-lovers have learned year after year. Enjoy background lectures and go behind-the-scenes for an insider’s view of what makes an opera company work. The 2011 festival has a delightful mix of well-known works. The series includes the following performances: Bizet's "Carmen," Cherubini's "Medea," Berlin's "Annie Get Your Gun," and a Double Bill of Tesori's "A Bilzzard in Marblehead" and Musto's "Later The Same Evening."This is an active program and requires walking up to three to five miles at a 2.5-mile-per-hour pace, the ability to go up and down two flights of stairs consecutively, and the use of public transportation.
